Numerical SimulationsThe object of dispersion modeling of hydrogen releases is the calculation of the concentration distribution of hydrogen in their vicinity. From this distribution, envelopes of constant concentrations encompassing higher concentration levels can be determined, from which clearance distances to limit the consequences resulting form accidental ignition. The shape of these envelopes can be complex, and will depend on the emission problem, which determines the nature of the flow and its rate of release, the obstacle configurations and the environmental conditions. Computer fluid dynamics simulations are thus often used to perform such calculations, as they can take into account in principle any level of details. |
